Das Weingut WHITEHAVEN liegt im Weinanbaugebiet Marlborough, am Wairau River, in direkter Nachbarschaft des Weinguts vom Schweizer Hans Herzog und der Weinfarm Huia Vineyards, zwischen den beiden Flüssen Wairau River & Awatere River, ca. 15 Autominuten (15 km) westlich des Städtchens Blenheim entfernt, ganz im Norden der Südinsel Neuseelands.

Die Weine von Whitehaven können täglich von 10.00 - 16.30 Uhr im Cellar-Door (Bilder Mitte) an der Rapaura Road degustiert und eingekauft werden.

Zur Geschichte des neuseeländischen Weinguts Whitehaven Wine Company:
Whitehaven wurde 1994 im Herzen der berühmten Weinanbauregion Marlborough von GREG und SUE WHITE (siehe Bild oben rechts) gegründet. Nach vielen Jahren harter Arbeit und Aufbau, verstarb Greg White im Jahre 2007. Sue übernahm daraufhin den Familienbetrieb Whitehaven voll und ganz und führt das Unternehmen seither - mit Unterstützung von Kellermeister SAM SMAIL (Bild rechts) und dem Whitehaven-Team - von Erfolg zu Erfolg......

Eine ganz ähnliche Geschichte wie beim Nachbar-Weingut HUNTER`s, auch JANE HUNTER musste nach dem Tod ihres Ehemannes das Unternehmen alleine führen. Auch dort mit grossem Erfolg!

Whitehaven Wine Company was established in 1994 in the heart of the internationally renowned Marlborough region, Whitehaven Wine Company is the realisation of the White familys vision to create a respected and critically acclaimed winery. Sailing the Pacific, they set a new course for the Marlborough Sounds, dropped anchor and launched a wine label - WHITEHAVEN.

Today the Whitehaven Wine Company is headed by Sue White, an enthusiastic advocate of the region, who continues to make the dreams she shared with her late husband Greg a reality.

Sue leads a small, talented, committed team who together are carving global recognition for the WHITEHAVEN label, showcasing elegant, single varietal Marlborough wines to over a dozen countries.

The Whitehaven Wine Company philosophy centres on the pursuit of quality without compromise a principle underpinning the entire winemaking cycle – from vineyard management to every bottle of pure Marlborough wine bearing the WHITEHAVEN label.

In a relatively short history Whitehaven Wine Company has evolved to become one of Marlboroughs leading ambassadors, our award-winning wines bearing the distinctive anchor insignia are enjoyed around the world.

Sue White - Proprietor:
Sue and her late husband Greg came to Marlborough over 20 years ago at a time when the earliest wineries were forging Marlborough`s reputation. Cashing up their home and other assets, they leased a small winery facility on the outskirts of Blenheim and WHITEHAVEN was born.

Living in a small cottage with a young daughter, Sue and Greg worked hard to get the brand established, an exercise in optimism, energy and resilience.

The company’s early successes enabled them to establish a new purpose-built winery and vineyard just outside Renwick, the company’s base today.

After the death of her husband in 2007, Sue stepped up to lead the family business. Her determination to continue the WHITEHAVEN brand meant taking on responsibility for the entire familiy business including regular visits to key partners in various global export markets.

Sue adopts a democratic approach to management allowing each individual to contribute fresh ideas and to flourish in their roles. She knows the value of being surrounded by staff trusted to do their best for the business and she is relentless about one thing; the integrity of the WHITEHAVEN name.

Sue’s zest for WHITEHAVEN has carried the company to where it is today, a close-knit team which excels in producing exceptional wines, a proud heritage for the White family.
