Rotwein De Martino Viejas Tinajas Cinsault Chile 13 Vol.%

WINEMAKERS NOTES Marcelo Retamal:
This De Martino Viejas Tinajas Cinsault wine preserves an old tradition deeply embedded within the Chilean countryside: making wine in terracotta amphorae. By doing so, Viejas Tinajas aims to produce the most natural wine possible, with minimal intervention, and maintaining the Chilean Tradition of using clay amphorae in winemaking. These noble receptacles were often used to store, conserve and transport wine. With this in mind, the De Martino winemaking team decided to use the Cinsault grape from the Guariligüe area in Coelemu, where they still preserve ancient cultivation techniques and incorporate sustainable and traditional methods, including the use of horses as a work tool.
This De Martino Viejas Tinajas Cinsault wine rescues an old tradition deeply rooted in rural Chile: winemaking using large earthenware jars. Viejas Tinajas (old earthenware jars) has been fermented and aged as naturally as possible in amphorae over 100 years old, without intervention and in search of a faithful reflection of its origin. An old, unirrigated vineyard in the heart of the Coastal Mountain Range in the Itata Valley gives life to this wine, some 400 kilometers to the south of Santiago and just 22 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean.
Our De Martino Viejas Tinajas Cinsault sows pale violet color, a oral bouquet with notes of violets, cherries and black fruit. Smooth, taut, fresh and light on the palate, easy to drink.
