Beschreibung
Rotwein Etude Wines Pinot Noir Carneros Kalifornien USA 14 Vol.%

Der Rotwein Etude Carneros Estate Pinot Noir besteht aus der Traubensorte:
- 100% Pinot Noir

FOUNDER & OWNER Tony Soter.
WINEMAKERS NOTES Jon Priest:
Etude was founded on the philosophy that winemaking begins in the vineyard long before the harvest and, that superior grape growing diminishes the need for intervention by the winemaker, resulting in the authentic expression of the varietal. The Etude Carneros Pinot Noir is a true reflection of the winery’s estate vineyard, Grace Benoist Ranch. A blend of the best grapes from individual vineyard parcels on the Ranch, this Etude Carneros Pinot Noir wine tells the story of a particular vintage from a very unique place.

The 2010 growing season began with a cool and moist spring, delaying each stage of growth -- bud break, flowering and fruit-set -- by nearly four weeks. This combined with a cooler-than-normal summer allowed for the slow, deliberate ripening of the grapes, and though harvest was later than usual, the Grapes benefited from the additional time on the vine and displayed full, rich flavors and balanced maturity. The Etude Carneros Pinot Noir hails from our estate vineyard tucked away in the far Northwest corner of the Carneros appellation. Unlike customary Carneros acreage, which is largely uplifted bay bottoms with soils composed of clay, the soils on Grace Benoist Ranch are variations of volcanic origin. They are well-drained, rocky upland soils. Combining these soils with the extreme western location closer to the Pacific Ocean makes this site the ideal place to grow Burgundian varieties.

Our Etude Carneros Estate Pinot Noir shows deep ruby in color, the 2010 Carneros Pinot Noir is driven by inviting aromas of ripe cherry and red berries, and accented with notes of forest floor and Asian spice. The classically structured palate showcases a seamless blend of lush, dark fruit and oak, which is enhanced by refined tannins. Due to the low yield of this vintage, this defined Etude Carneros Pinot Noir has an intensely concentrated fruit core that is balanced with a bright, lasting acidity.

Ausserdem stellt Etude aussergewöhnliche Pinot-Noir-Brandys her.

Etude Wines - Carneros California:
Etude is a distinguished producer of estate-grown Pinot Noir wines in the Carneros region of the Napa Valley, just to the south of the town of Napa. Etude, which means study in French, was founded in 1982 as a “study” in the craft of making Pinot Noir. Etude makes several of these notoriously challenging-to-make wines using fruit from its estate vineyard located at the foot of Sonoma Mountain.

Etude’s tasting room is open to the public daily. Guests can enjoy a flight of wines at the tasting bar or on the patio. Wines available at the winery include Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon in addition to the signature Pinot Noir wines.

What began twenty five years ago as a philosophical state of mind is now a state-of-the-art winemaking facility where the ancient art of winemaking is pursued with a singular passion.

Etude Wines is dedicated to mastering the craft of winegrowing. In classical music, an etude is a composition with a technical focus that allows the musician to practice a particular technique. Similarly, Etude wines are the product of deliberate concentration on the instructive variables of the craft. The end game is not edification alone, but rather the wine itself as a source of enjoyment. Chopin piano etudes are notoriously difficult but sublimely beautiful… this is an example of the practicing craft transformed to art.

Founder and self described winegrower Tony Soter puts it this way: “There’s no better vehicle with which to study or practice the craft of winemaking than Pinot Noir. It is the most challenging, unforgiving and quixotic of all wine grapes, and yet the most delicate and transparent.” “Make no mistake it is a humbling pursuit, but when it’s right, Pinot Noir is a glorious and moving thing. It is in the pursuit of that experience that we all work.” Working together in this oenological quest for perfection are current winemaker Jon Priest and viticulturalist Franci Ashton. They transform the very finest Carneros and Napa Valley grapes into world-class wines sought out by the most discriminating wine lovers. In addition to its widely acclaimed Carneros Pinot Noir and legendary Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Etude has also developed a loyal following for Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Merlot.

JON PRIEST, Winemaker Etude Wines
In spring 2005, Jon Priest jumped on an opportunity that he felt was too good to be true. He moved north to the Napa Valley to work alongside Tony Soter, Etude Founder and Winegrower, to continue the tradition of crafting wonderful Etude wines. He felt blessed to make wine with viticultural legend Bob "Taz" Steinhauer and now equally so with Tony Soter. Jon was hired as Winemaker for TAZ Vineyards in 2003, just as the brand was launched. Working closely with Bob "Taz" Steinhauer, Jon did an outstanding job with the TAZ wines sourcing grapes from the best Central Coast vineyards and crafting beautiful Pinot Noirs, Syrahs, Chardonnays and Pinot Gris that have earned critical acclaim and numerous awards. For more than a dozen years at Wild Horse Winery, he established a reputation as an innovator, overseeing the crafting of more than 30 varietals, with a special fondness for Pinot Noir. Later, at Adelaida Cellars, he continued to gain notice, particularly for his estate red wines which included Syrah, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. Through it all, Pinot Noir still remains his passion thus making Etude a perfect home. He might be the only winemaker to earn a college scholarship in Steeplechase. Moving on from Steeplechase to endurance horseback riding, Jon is among an elite group of California equestrians who compete in racing events covering great distances over legendary trails once crossed by earlier pioneers. A native son of California, Jon headed early to the Northwest, attending Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington. His father, an architect, helped create some notable Central Coast wineries and the inevitable re-awakening to the beauty and promise of Santa Barbara soon followed.
