Beschreibung
Rotwein Caymus Vineyards Conundrum Red Kalifornien USA 14,5 Vol.%

WINEMAKERS NOTES Jon Bolta & Charlie Wagner II:
Mmmmmm. Conundrum Red... What`s in There? … It`s proprietary and we believe the fun is exploring this intriguing wine. Conundrum Red is a non-traditional blend of California red grapes. This wine is truly a Conundrum in style which is unlike any other red blended wine.

We believe in being both serious and playful, and this Conundrum Red wine fits the bill. A rich, dark red, it offers aromas of ripe berries and plums, warmed by a hint of cocoa. Dried fruit and the taste of chocolate-covered cherries come through on the palate, while a wisp of smokiness makes this Conundrum Red – created from dark red varietals including Zinfandel and Petite Sirah – the perfect complement to grilled meats and full-flavored dishes. Tannins are rounded out by the ripeness of the berries for a texturous but smooth mouth feel. The finish makes us think of lingering at the end of a long evening and still not wanting to go home, with layers of rich flavor that teasingly trail off.

Our Conundrum Red shows almost floral on the nose, with tones of lavender, dried berries, baking chocolate and bacon bits. Aromas are rich, velvety and wonderfully appealing. On the palate, a silky round entry with acidity to balance and high fruit concentration. Fruit driven both before and after the high tannin middle core. The Conundrum Red has a long finish with supple, not drying, tannins.

Caymus Vineyards - Napa Valley Kalifornien USA

Kein Picknick!

Jahres-Weinproduktion vom Weingut Caymus Vineyards in Kalifornien USA: ca. 58`000 Weinkisten.

History: Caymus Vineyrds was founded in 1972 by Charles F. (Charlie) Wagner, Lorna Belle Glos Wagner and their son Charles J. (Chuck) Wagner on the familys Rutherford property. The Wagners produced their first Cabernet Sauvignon from the 1972 vintage.

Their first Special Selection - from outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon lots given extended barrel aging - was made from the 1975 vintage. Caymus has made Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon every year since its founding, and now focuses entirely on this variety. Production has remained at the same level since the 1989 vintage.

The Wagners took the name Caymus from the Mexican land grant known as Rancho Caymus, given to George Yount in 1836, which included what eventually became the town of Rutherford and much of the surrounding area. (Caymus was also the name of a subgroup of Mishewal-Wappo Indians whose village was north of what is now the town of Yountville.)

Vineyards: The winerys 60-plus acres of estate Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa Valleys Rutherford District continue to form the foundation of Caymus Cabernets. The Wagners also farm several other vineyards in the Napa Valley, ranging in location from the valley floor to mountain slopes. In addition, Caymus purchases grapes from selected Napa Valley growers who have had a long-term association with the winery.
