Der kalifornische Weisswein Mer Soleil Chardonnay Silver unoaked kommt aus dem Weinanbaugebiet Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey County, Kalifornien USA.
Der 100 ha grosse Mer Soleil-Rebberg, benannt nach den zwei Elementen (Meer und Sonne), welche seine Wachstumsbedingungen stark beeinflussen, ist mit Chardonnay, Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne, Dolcetto und Sangiovese bepflanzt. Er liegt s�dlich von Salinas und wurde 1988 von Chuck Wagner gekauft.
Nach der k�hlen Fermentation, wurde der Weisswein Mer Soleil Chardonnay Silver unoaked in eierf�rmigen Betontanks aus Frankreich und in Edelstahltanks kurz auf der Hefe ausgebaut. Kein Holzkontakt!
Einzigartig ist die attraktive Keramik-Flasche, die dem SILVER Chardonnay als "Gef�ss" dient. Dieser kalifornische Weisswein Mer Soleil Chardonnay Silver unoaked kam im September 2014 in den Verkauf.

We believe that the Santa Lucia Highlands appellation in Monterey County is one of the best appellations in the world for producing Chardonnay. This region benefits from cool morning fog and afternoon breezes that result in a long growing season, producing intense fruit flavors balanced with vibrant acidity. Our Mer Soleil Silver Chardonnay unoaked is a pure, clean expression of our estate-grown Santa Lucia Highlands Chardonnay. The grapes that go into this Mer Soleil Chardonnay Silver unoaked Ceramic are of the highest quality for a number of reasons: the unique climate, our vineyard location on east-facing slopes, vine-to-vine uniformity, low-yields and grapes picked at peak ripeness.
The Mer Soleil Chardonnay Silver unoaked is fermented and aged in a combination of stainless steel and small Nomblot concrete tanks that are imported from France and feature state-of-the-art technology. The unlined tanks are made from natural limestone-based cement, so temperatures are kept stable while still allowing a small amount of oxygen contact to enhance flavor development, similar to aging in an oak barrel. Our unique ceramic bottle is reminiscent of the concrete fermenters that enhance this wine so beautifully, and continues to preserve the bright, fresh fruit characters.
Mer Soleil Silver unoaked Chardonnay shows a pale yellow hue, the wine is well balanced with great structure. Bright minerality, pink grapefruit and key lime characters shine through on the nose, followed by lemon zest and stone-fruit. The mid-palate displays intriguing notes of Lemon meringue, quince and citrus, complemented by a crisp acidity that carries through from start to finish. The higher acidity in this Mer Soleil Silver unoaked Chardonnay wine makes it a perfect accompaniment to a wide array of food, particularly salads, grilled seafood, tomato-based dishes and fresh oysters.
